Eli’s Park Project, a re-imagining of the Burke Gilman Park in Seattle WA
I am lucky to be working with an amazing team of folks who are transforming the under-utilized space at Burke Gilman Park (near Childrens’ Hospital) into a new and dynamic space that strives to bring the elements of accessibility and nature together. I am acting as artist on the design team and helping to be an advocate for art opportunities within the project. It has been an amazing glimpse so far into the deeper workings of the public art process and I’m excited and honored to have this opportunity. YES INDEED, I am in Norway this year!
As a bit of an artist residency turned year abroad, myself and my little family are spending the year (June 2019-July2020) in a little town called Henningsvaer in an archipelago in the Norwegian arctic. I’ve come to see the light cycle at this extreme latitude, to breathe my fill of salt air, be inspired by new scenes and situations, and get to know as much of the language and culture as we can gather. To see artwork and photos of daily life you can follow me on instagram as @hannahviano
A new shared studio with Foxtail Pottery
Even though i’m far off in the arctic, things are moving and shaking back at my studio in Twisp WA, where a new space has just been finished off for us and my new studio mate Mandy of Foxtail Pottery will be getting things set up and holding my place by offering a selection of my books, prints, and cards etc. through the holiday season and beyond. The move was short! Just across the courtyard to the other side of the lawn at Twispworks. Look for us between Nice Nests and Bristle and Stick brooms. And, be sure to stop by this coming summer to see new work and products inspired by my time abroad.
Red Umbrella Artist Collective
Starting this holiday season a select few of my images will be available to stores and wholesale accounts through my friends at Red Umbrella and their new venture the Red Umbrella Artist Collective. Basically they are taking over the marketing, shipping, online sales (YAY finally online sales!!) and production of my retail items, making them more easy to access and making a lot more time for me to make art and not do logistics, win-win!
Check out Venue in Seattles’ Ballard neighborhood, Riverside Studios in Truckee, CA, and The Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA for original framed artwork and prints as well as rolled prints and greeting cards all year round. If you are in the Methow Valley, come visit my studio in Building 10 at Twispworks, in Twisp WA.
